At 3,157 metres, South Sister in Oregon, US was my first real mountain. It is a challenging full day hike and here’s how you can expect it to go down!
FOR ANYONE WHO is fond of the outdoors and especially for anyone who has even the slightest inkling of love for rock climbing, Yosemite is mecca. Stories about people I met whilst hiking in Yosemite National Park

I feel like we definitely made the most of our time there, even when we had to change our backcountry hiking plans due to a lack of water and when our car got a flat tyre! So if Zion is on your travel horizon soon, here are my suggestions to get the maximum out of your adventure.
I had expected to find beauty only sparsely sprinkled amongst the dryness and monotony of the desert and instead, I found an oasis, bursting with life and colour. Everything about Zion seemed simultaneously at odds and in harmony with one another; natural and unnatural at the same time. Zion is such a magnificent place that it made me feel out of place, almost unworthy to be there. No wonder its Mormon settlers, inspired by its beauty and peace, named it after Zion, the holy city in the Bible’s Old Testament.
